Abstract

Anxiety disorders and depression represent prevalent psychological conditions that significantly impact individuals' emotional, social, and physical well-being. The objective was to analyze, through a literature review, how cannabidiol (CBD) has been used in the treatment of anxiety disorders and depression, with an emphasis on its therapeutic effects. This integrative literature review uses primary research to answer a guiding question. A search was conducted in the following databases: National Library of Medicine (Pubmed), Scientific Electronic Library Online (SciELO), and Virtual Health Library (VHL). The following Health Sciences Descriptors (DeCs) were used to search the studies: "therapeutic use of cannabidiol," "anxiety," and "depression." The conclusion is that CBD may represent an effective option for individuals who do not respond well to conventional treatments or who develop undesirable effects. Thus, based on the studies analyzed, it is observed that CBD has significant potential in the management of anxiety disorders and depression, but its use in the treatment of these disorders still requires further research with a more cautious approach.
