HOSPITAL PSYCHOLOGY INTERVENTION TO PERINATAL GRIEF IN MATERNITIES: AN INTEGRATIVE REVIEW

Abstract
Perinatal grief is experienced when perinatal loss occurs, being a type of grief not legitimized by society,
causing sadness, frustration, anger and blame. Therefore, the objective is to analyze the interventions
conducted by hospital psychologists in contexts of perinatal losses in maternity hospitals. This study uses
an exploratory bibliographical approach to better understand the psychological interventions conducted in
the face of the experience of grief of mothers and their families, the challenges that the psychologist faces
and the management used. Data were collected through an integrative literature review in electronic
databases: Medline, Pubmed and PePsic, in addition, the PICO strategy was used. Studies show that
psychologists seek to promote the elaboration of grief and welcome mothers and family members. Health
professionals face challenges in dealing with demand, given the difficulties in communicating death,
ensuring privacy and managing emotions of grief
