ANALYSIS OF SCIENTIFIC PUBLICATIONS ON THE ASSESSMENT OF THE ELDERLY IN PRIMARY HEALTH CARE

Abstract
Objective: To analyze the scientific production of the last five years regarding the assessment of clinical-functional vulnerability of older adults assisted in Primary Health Care (PHC). Method: Integrative literature review conducted in SciELO, LILACS, PubMed, and Scopus databases between 2015 and 2025, using Portuguese and English descriptors related to clinical- functional vulnerability, older adults, and PHC. Original articles, systematic reviews, and cross- sectional studies addressing validated assessment instruments were included. Results: From 320 initially identified articles, 60 comprised the final sample. The IVCF-20 was the most frequently used instrument, followed by VES-13 and BOMFAQ. Studies revealed a high prevalence of older adults classified at moderate or high vulnerability levels, associated with multimorbidity, polypharmacy, and social frailty. A significant increase in publications was observed in the last three years, highlighting the relevance of the topic.
Conclusion: The assessment of clinical-functional vulnerability should be incorporated as a routine practice in PHC. Health professionals play a central role in the early identification of risks and in the implementation of comprehensive care strategies, contributing to autonomy, quality of life, and healthy aging.
