Abstract

Gestational hypertension is one of the hypertensive disorders that can arise during pregnancy. It is typically reported by an increase in blood pressure after the 20th week of gestation in previously normotensive women. The overall objective of this study is to characterize the pharmacological and non-pharmacological treatment of pregnant women with hypertension, as well as pharmaceutical care, through an integrative literature review. The methodology involved the qualitative analysis of studies in which a search was carried out in the databases Latin American and Caribbean Literature in Health Sciences (LILACS), Scientific Electronic Library Online (SciELO), International Literature in Health Sciences (PUBMED/MEDLINE) with the Descriptors in Health Sciences (DeCS): “gestational hypertension”, “pharmacological treatment”, “non-pharmacological treatment”, “classification of gestational hypertension”. A total of 384 articles were found, of which 67 remained after applying the inclusion and exclusion criteria. Of these, 57 articles were excluded because they contained duplication, used foreign language, or were not in line with the study objective, leaving 10 articles for the study. The conclusion was that the appropriate choice of medications, combined with preventive measures such as calcium supplementation, healthy lifestyle habits, and multidisciplinary monitoring, especially involving the pharmacist, is essential to reduce risks and complications.
