Abstract
ASD is a neuropsychiatric condition characterized by deficits in social communication and restricted behavior patterns that can vary in severity and affect the individual's cognitive and emotional development. This study aims to evaluate, through an integrative literature review, the use of cannabidiol (CBD) in the management of behavioral symptoms of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). An integrative literature review was conducted in the Virtual Health Library (VHL), Scientific Electronic Library Online (SciELO), and PubMed databases, from 2020 to 2025, using the descriptors "cannabidiol," "ASD," and "symptoms." The study analyses converge on the positive effects of cannabis on ASD, focusing on symptom reduction and improving patients' quality of life. The analysis of the reviewed studies points to the promising use of CBD in the treatment of ASD, as it can be concluded that cannabis can contribute to a significant improvement in behavioral and social symptoms in affected individuals. The studies indicated a reduction in irritability, hyperactivity, anxiety, and repetitive and restrictive behaviors, as well as improved social interaction.
